1950s Knox New York Black Size 7.25 Fedora / Bowler fur Felt Hat" Last pic is an ad for Brand, not this exact hat and is for informational purposes.
It has a 2-1/2" brim and 5-1/2" open crown. The crown is wrapped in a 1-3/4" black colored grosgrain ribbon and the brim is bound in felt color matching 5/8" grosgrain.The hat also sports a nice looking feather accent.
The hat shows little wear. The felt is in good shape with no staining, flaws or moth nips. The back top of the crown could stand some steam and blocking. The felt has a nice hand and shapes easily. The sweat band is supple and has some noticeable issues but other than that is a nice hat.
I am estimating the 1950s date of manufacture based on the logo style debossed in the sweatband for the store ( Dreyfuss and son ) Dallas .By the middle of the century, Knox Hats were sold all over America and manufactured in Knox’s Brooklyn factory – the largest hat factory in the world.
