A creepy Antique 17”x19.5” Oak Framed Post Mortem Photograph Man (alive) Woman (deceased).
Folks I purchase this at an auction because I liked the antique frame. Needs touching up but great piece. Also thought about selling it because some people do the Instant ancestors where they buy framed photographs and display in the home.
I showed this to a friend who has a home built in prior to 1910. Immediately, she tells me that this is a framed Post Mortem Photograph. Said looks like the Man is (alive) and Woman (deceased). Well I never heard of such a thing. She goes on about looks like the ladies neck is being supported. Then she said might only be a picture photograph of the women. Well I had to google. I never heard of this.
I purchased this at an auction. I am friends with one of the auctioneers. The folks at this auction house was not aware. Very creepy. I don’t know how long they had this hanging on there wall lol.
Photograph has a slight crease. I was told that was normal for
